Our Company (usually referred to as 'ZKM' in Polish) operates the city public transport system in Gdańsk and the surrounding areas.
The City Transport in Gdańsk Ltd. is the biggest city transportation company in the Tricity (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot) and was established on 1st January 2004.
The company is a carrier offering public transport services and is supervised by the Gdansk City Authority (
ZTM Gdańsk).
Tram and bus services are operated as commissioned by the City Council of Gdańsk.
ZTM Gdańsk sets the fares tariff and specifies the number of tram and bus lines, their routes, the frequency of service and the type of vehicle used on each route.
The network of the city public transport covers 10 tram routes and 85 bus routes, of which 10 are night city lines. ZKM Sp. z o.o. (Ltd.) possesses 225 buses and 102 trams (correct at 1st January 2008) and operated around 28.1 million kilometers in the year 2007 : 11.8 million km by trams, 16.3 million km by buses.

Our achievements in the last few years:
In 1994 we introduced the first low-floor bus in Poland (Mercedes 0405N).
In 1997, with a view to raising public transport standards, we bought a new Neoplan bus with air-conditioning.
In 2000 we bought our first 70%-low-floor tram (NGd99).
In 2004 ZKM Sp. z o.o. (Ltd.) introduced a digital "TETRA" system: a computerized GPS-control system to establish the exact location of buses in real-time and provide details of exceptional incidents, delays etc, to enable bus and tram services to be properly regulated and delays to passengers minimized.
